Luxembourg-based global steel giant ArcelorMittal has announced that a scoping study has identified the potential to increase annual production of iron ore concentrate at ArcelorMittal Mines Canada to 30 million mt.
The company is considering several development options. In May 2011, ArcelorMittal launched an investment program to increase annual production at ArcelorMittal Mines Canada from 14 million mt to 24 million mt per year by 2013. This investment program is currently under implementation.
ArcelorMittal Mines Canada is one of Canada's leading suppliers of iron ore to steel markets around the world, generating some 40 percent of Canada's total production.
