ArcelorMittal USA issued an update today on the boiler shutdowns at its Burns Harbor facility on May 29. A steam tube failure triggered a cascade of boiler shutdowns at the plant’s power station, which impacted all steam powered functions within the plant.

As a result, the facility was unable to produce the amount of steam needed to maintain plant operations. The incident resulted in no injuries, and ArcelorMittal Burns Harbor was able to continue to serve customers.

Throughout the week, operations were brought back online as steam became available. As of Friday, June 3, all operations are back online and operating normally.
