ArcelorMittal orders second converter for Gijon plant

Germany-based plantmaker SMS Siemag has announced that global steel giant ArcelorMittal has ordered a second converter for the meltshop, equipped with two 120 mt converters, producing heavy plates and rail grades, at its Gijon works in Spain.
 
With the new vessel to be installed in the second converter, ArcelorMittal expects approximately 25 percent growth in volume, resulting in higher yield.
 
SMS Siemag had already commissioned a converter for Gijon in October 2011.
