The world's largest steelmaker ArcelorMittal may create 200 new jobs at its Steelton Plant in the Harrisburg area, US.

The new jobs, encouraged by the local tax breaks, are in line with the rail mill modernization and expansion project at the Steelton plant.

ArcelorMittal employs about 700 at its Steelton facility. The plant, formerly Bethlehem Steel, makes products for the railroad and mass transit industries.

The announcement relating to the new jobs follows the signing into law this week of the US stimulus package which includes massive US infrastructure spending, which in turn may cause American rail demand to soar.
