In the January-February period of the current year, the crude steel production of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, Ukrainian subsidiary of global steel giant ArcelorMittal, totaled 958,100 mt, up 7.6 percent year on year.
In addition, in the first two months of the year ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih registered a 6.3 percent increase year on year in its finished steel output to 847,400 mt. During the period in question, pig iron production at ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih increased by 9.8 percent year on year to 843,100 mt.
Meanwhile, in February alone crude steel production at ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih decreased by 7.5 percent to 409,700 mt, output of rolled steel went down by 1.9 percent to 367,600 mt, and production of pig iron moved down by 3.5 percent to 364,800 mt, all on year-on-year basis. The main reason for the reduced production level in February was the decrease in scrap supply in January caused by lack of agreement on raw material prices between scrap suppliers and steel companies in Ukraine.
