ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih’s crude steel output up 7.5 percent in Jan-Mar

In the January-March period of the current year, the crude steel production of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, Ukrainian subsidiary of global steel giant ArcelorMittal, totaled 1.47 million mt, up 7.5 percent year on year.

In addition, in the first three months of the year ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih registered a 5.5 percent increase year on year in its finished steel output to 1.3 million mt. During the period in question, pig iron production at ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih increased by 9.9 percent year on year to 1.3 million mt.

Meanwhile, in March alone crude steel production at ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih increased by 5.9 percent to 505,100 mt, output of rolled steel went up by four percent to 428,100 mt, and production of pig iron moved up by ten percent to 445,700 mt, all on year-on-year basis.

In the first quarter of 2012, though there is an increase in rolled products output, production was low as compared to business plan due to extremely cold winter in February which posed tough situation in terms of lack of scrap and logistic problems.
