ArcelorMittal France, a subsidiary of Luxembourg-headquartered steelmaker ArcelorMittal, has announced that the preparatory phase for the commencement of new electrical steel production lines at its Mardyck site in the north of France has begun. The lines are scheduled to start production in 2024, as SteelOrbis previously reported.

The recruitment has started of 100 operators and engineers who will ensure the operation and management of these production lines, including an annealing-pickling line, a reversible rolling mill, a preparation line, an annealing-varnishing line and a slitting line.

The annual 200,000 mt that the Mardyck lines will produce will bring the ArcelorMittal electrical steel produced in France to 300,000 mt, which will be available in the European market.
