ArcelorMittal, the world's largest steel producer, has announced record financial results for both the second quarter and the six months ended June 30, 2007.

According to the company's release, ArcelorMittal registered a net profit of $2.72 billion for the second quarter and $4.97 billion for the first half of 2007. Sales totaled $27.22 billion for the second three-month period of the year and $51.70 billion for the first half. The company reported EBITDA of $9.7 billion for the first half of 2007, showing a 42 percent increase compared to the $6.8 billion registered for the first half of 2006.

Commenting on the results, Arcelor Mittal president and CEO, Mr. Lakshmi N. Mittal, said, "We are pleased to be able to report a record set of numbers for the second quarter and first half of 2007.  These results were driven by a strong demand for steel combined with higher selling prices in all our major segments. We are anticipating a robust end to the year."
