Arcelor evaluates situation with Dillinger Hutte

The European steelmaker Arcelor, formed by merger of Aceralia of Spain, Usinor of France and Arbed of Luxembourg, is contemplating over its majority interest of 51.25% in the German heavy plate maker, Dillinger Hutte. The consideration is aiming to foresee whether this interest should be seen as an industrial opportunity or only a financial holding by checking the operational synergies of Dillinger in Germany, France and those of Arcelor. 33.75% shares of Dillinger Hutte are held by Saarstahl AG. At the same time Dillinger holds equal shares with Salzgitter of Europipe, a large diameter pipe producer, by 50%.
