Anshan Steel ups self-sufficiency in iron ore supplies to 80 percent

On July 26, Liaoning Province-based Chinese steel producer Anshan Steel Group announced that it has already entered into the environment evaluation process at Yanqianshan Pit Wall Connected Mine. This project marks the first time Anshan Steel will engage in underground mining.

Anshan Steel owns two iron ore concentrate production bases in Liaoning Province, with total proven reserves of 9.3 billion mt, about 25 percent of the country's total. Anshan Steel states that its self-sufficiency in iron ore supplies has risen from 50 percent to 80 percent.
