Annual iron ore handling capacity of Caofeidian Port to reach 100 million mt

The third phase of Tangshan Port Caofeidian Port Area Coal Terminal Project and the third phase of Tangshan Port Caofeidian Port Area Ore Terminal Project have been approved by China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), according to local media sources in Hebei Province.
 
The third phase of Tangshan Port Caofeidian Port Area Coal Terminal Project, which will be built by Hebei-based company Tangshan Caofeidian Coal Port Affairs Co., will consist of two 100,000 mt, two 70,000 mt and one 50,000 mt coal loading berths, as well as auxiliary production and living facilities. The terminal will be 1,470 meters in length. The total designed annual throughput capacity is 50 million mt, with a total investment of RMB 5.26 billion ($838 million).
 
Meanwhile, the third phase of Tangshan Port Caofeidian Port Area Ore Terminal Project, to be built by Hebei-based Chinese state-owned port enterprise Tangshan Caofeidian Port Co., will consist of two 250,000 mt berths designed to accommodate 400,000 dwt bulk cargo vessels. The terminal will be 790 meters in length. It has a planned annual cargo throughput of 35 million mt, while the total investment will reach RMB 4.08 billion ($650 million). Upon completion, the iron ore handling capacity of Caofeidian Port Area is expected to reach 100 million mt.
