Last Friday, mining company Anglo American PLC announced that it has received a main license needed for its Brazilian iron ore project. The installation license will allow for the construction of a power transmission line in the Minas Gerais state in southern Brazil, linking the iron ore mine and treatment plant to a power station also within Minas Gerais. Anglo has not yet received its operational license, however, which it needs before production at the Minas-Rio mine can begin.

The mining project is currently 60 percent complete and is expected to be in operation in the latter half of 2013 with an initial capacity of 26.5 million metric tons annually.
