In 2009, Liaoning Province-based Chinese steelmaker Angang produced 20.5095 million mt of pig iron, 20.1266 million mt of crude steel and 18.9979 million mt of finished steel, all constituting record annual volumes, with the outputs of pig iron and crude steel both exceeding 20 million mt for the first time.

During the year in question, Angang's new production base at Bayuquan achieved outputs of over five million mt for both pig iron and crude steel, contributing greatly to the producer's record outputs of pig iron and crude steel in 2009.

Meanwhile, Angang's main economic and technical indices have also improved in the past year, including blast furnace utilization rate, total coke consumption per ton of steel, continuous casting rate, rate of finished steel output, total energy consumption per ton of steel, comparable energy consumption per ton of steel, fresh water consumption per ton of steel and other indices.
