The Russian steel producer Amurmetall has announced that on March 13, 2009 it restarted operations at its rolling mill shop, adding that its flat rolling shop, recommissioned on February 25, is currently finishing a 3,000 mt export order.

In March, Amurmetall plans to produce 15,000 mt of steel products at its rolling mill shop.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, in November 2008 Amurmetall was forced to close operations at its flat rolling shop, bent steel section shop, and later at its rolling mill shop, in consideration of the decreased output levels resulting from the financial crisis. During the stoppage period up to February 2009, Amurmetall sent on temporary leave 1,450 workers not involved in the production process, paying them two thirds of their normal salaries. Currently, the number of company workers on enforced leave stands at 694.
