In early January, the Russian steel producer Amurmetall restarted its longs producing workshop, where production had been stopped following the accident that occurred at the beginning of September 2007.

The damaged workshop has started production with the manufacture of 32 mm size rebar. However, the management of Amurmetall believes that upon completion of all modernization works at the workshop, it will be able to cover its full range of products.

In January 2008, the longs workshop in question is expected to produce about 20,000 metric tons of long products, while by February Amurmetall plans to bring the workshop up to its designed production capacity.
