The United Arab Emirates's (UAE) Al Ghurair Iron & Steel, a Tradeline Group company, has disclosed to SteelOrbis details of the country's first ever cold rolling and galvanizing plant.

The new plant, which is currently under construction in the UAE's Abu Dhabi Emirate, will have an annual production capacity of 350,000 mt, including 100,000 mt of HR P&O, 50,000 mt of cold rolled full hard and 200,000 mt of HDG.

Up to now, the company has completed the construction and installation of machinery, while commissioning of individual equipment is going on.

The main suppliers of equipment for Al Ghurair Iron & Steel include Indian Flat Products Equipment, which is in charge of supplying machinery, Austria's Andritz, which is equipping the new facility with an acid regeneration plant, and Italian steel finishing equipment manufacturer FIMI, which is to supply a cut to length line for the new plant.

The new plant plans to source its hot rolled feedstock from various sources such as Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and India. As for the targeted sales market, the products to be manufactured will be sold mainly to the UAE local market, and then spread out to other GCC states and also to Europe.

The new plant plans to produce its first cold rolled coil in August of the current year.
