AK Steel announced Tuesday it will increase its surcharge for electrical steel products by $15 /nt in July. The new surcharge, effective July 1, will be $225 /nt, compared to the June surcharge of $210 /nt. AK Steel says its July surcharges are based on the May 2006 energy and raw material purchase costs. The electrical steel surcharge announcement comes a day after the company announced it will increase transaction prices for stainless steel shipments by 6 percent, effective with shipments July 2.
