Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) announced this week that it launched a program to strengthen rail infrastructure due the rising demand for rail transport generated by the company’s Fénix Project.

The plan will increase the company’s internal rail network by 30 percent, or 80 kilometers. AHMSA will also add 25 locomotives to the existing fleet as well as the number of platforms for moving slab, plate, and rolled steel plate, and gondolas for transporting scrap.
