Mexican integrated steelmaker Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) has started building its No. 5 electrolytic washing machine line at its cold rolling mill No. 2, according to a media report from La Prensa de Monclova.

The steelmaker will invest about $34 million in the new equipment. The machine is fully automated and will occupy a 100-meter wide space, similar to the other machines at the company’s cold rolling mill No. 1.

With the new equipment, AHMSA expects to expand its portfolio of cold rolled sheets to supply new grades and specifications to meet the demands of the automotive industry, the home appliance sector and the engines sector, among other segments.

Primetals reportedly supplied the equipment.
