EU new car registrations up 6.2 percent in January

In January this year, new car registrations totaled 1,061,150 units in the European Union (EU), with an increase of 6.2 percent year on year, marking the 29th consecutive month of year-on-year growth, according to the latest figures issued by the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA).
In January, Italy (+17.4%) and Spain (+12.1%) were the major EU markets which recorded increases in new car registrations on year-on-year basis, followed by France (+3.9%), Germany (+3.3%) and the UK (+2.9%), which also performed better than in January 2015.
