China’s trade surplus for goods, services totals $40.6 billion in May

In May this year, China’s total exports and imports of goods and services amounted to $199.1 billion and $158.5 billion respectively, resulting in a trade surplus of $40.6 billion, as announced by China’s State Administration of Foreign Exchange on June 30.
In particular, in May China’s exports and import of goods amounted to $180.7 billion and $121.9 billion respectively, resulting in a trade surplus of $58.8 billion, while its exports and imports of services amounted to $18.4 billion and $36.6 billion, giving a trade deficit of $18.3 billion.
In the January-May period of this year, China’s total exports and imports of goods and services came to $918.9 billion and $787.9 billion respectively, resulting in a trade surplus of $131.0 billion for the period.
