SteelOrbis has been informed that domestic welded pipe prices in Turkey have remained stable over the past week, with buyers concluding few deals given the weakness of demand. Given the perception that global hot rolled coil (HRC) quotations have bottomed out and that the long-standing falling trend has finally come to an end, global flat steel prices have started to rebound. This development has been welcomed in the local Turkish welded pipe market. Following the slight increase in HRC prices, some buyers in the local Turkish welded pipe market have made purchases as they have sought to anticipate any possible imminent increases in welded pipe prices. However, most market players have maintained their wait-and-see stance due to their expectations of a further appreciation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar, with the lira now at 5.30 to the dollar .
Turkish producers’ offer range for ERW pipes and hollow sections with 2-4 mm wall thickness made from hot rolled coil (HRC) of S235 grade as per EN 10219 to their domestic market has remained stable at $530-570/mt ex-works. Market sources state that the prices in question are currently showing an increasing tendency.
