US OCTG market still waiting on new offers from Korean steelmakers

Last week, the US Department of Commerce announced new dumping margins against Korean OCTG imports; SeAH was assigned a dumping margin of 2.76 percent, Nexsteel was assigned a dumping margin of 24.92 percent and all other producers were assigned margins of 13.84 percent.

The revised margins, sources say, make imports from Nexsteel “a non-starter because the margins are simply too high.”

Although SteelOrbis sources expect they will soon receive new import offers from all other Korean mills, “they haven’t started quoting just yet,” a source said.

In terms of current J55 ERW OCTG pricing, offers prices from US and Taiwanese producers continue to remain steady.

US pricing for finished J55 ERW OCTG casing continues to trend at $50-$52 cwt. ($1102-$1146/mt or $1000-$1040/nt), ex-mill. On the import side, prices for unfinished J55 ERW OCTG casing from Taiwan in the US domestic market have remained at $40.00-$42.50 cwt. ($882-$937/mt or $800-$850/nt), DDP loaded truck in US Gulf coast ports.
