US import line pipe prices steady while import tonnages rise

The most commonly heard price for Korean API X-42 line pipe in the US domestic market is currently being heard in the approximate range of $39-$41 cwt. ($860-$904/mt or $780-$820/nt, DDP loaded truck in US Gulf coast ports. Other sources close to SteelOrbis have reported receiving offer prices for Korean API X-52 line pipe in the US domestic market in the approximate range of $40.50-$41.50 cwt. ($893-$915/mt or $810-$830/nt), DDP loaded truck in US Gulf coast ports.
 
In terms of import tonnages, recent data from the US Department of Commerce show that for the month of January, the US imported 120,101 mt (license data) of line pipe, compared to 113,586 mt (census data) in December. Notably, February imports are on track to meet or exceed January totals, with 99,140 mt of import permits already recorded for the month as of February 14.
