Late Wednesday, Atlas Tube sent a letter informing customers that it would be raising its hollow structural sections (HSS) prices another $1.50 cwt. ($33/mt or $30/nt). Orders currently on the books would be price protected through August 16.

On Thursday, Independence Tube had followed Atlas' lead and announced a $1.50 cwt. price increase of its own. Orders currently on the books at Independence would also be price protected for shipments through August 16.

Other HSS mills are imminently anticipated to follow the move.
