US domestic hollow structural sections (HSS) mills have announced a price increase for $2.50 cwt. ($55/mt or $50/nt) on all HSS squares and rectangles.

On Friday, Atlas Tube said it was increasing the price on HSS products effective with all new orders received after 5:00PM CST November 16, 2012. By Monday, Independence Tube, Maruichi Leavitt Pipe & Tube, Welded Tube of Canada and Bull Moose Tube said in separate letters to customers that they would increase prices immediately, effective with all new orders. Orders currently on the books would be price protected through December 14 shipments at Maruichi, and Welded Tube of Canada and December 15 shipments at Atlas Tube, Independence Tube and Bull Moose Tube.

The price increase is an addition to a $2.00 cwt. ($44/mt or $40/nt) increase in late October, and follows a $2.50 cwt. price increase from flat rolled mills earlier this month.
