Turkish welded pipe export prices weaken

Welded pipe export prices from Turkey have decreased by $10/mt over the past week to $520-530/mt FOB for April shipments. The key reason is the stalled demand since the quota for sales to the EU has been exhausted, and so Turkey mills are trying to attract the attention of the alternative buyers.

In the local Turkish market, the suppliers are keeping their official offers stable for now at $530-545/mt ex-works for April deliveries. However, according to buyers, with a serious order it is possible to get discounts of up to $20/mt. Overall the trade in the domestic market in Turkey has been limited, in the Iskenderun region in particular due to the situation in Syria. Customers are postponing restocking, aiming to see more stable business conditions, SteelOrbis understands.

** Prices are given for ERW pipes and hollow sections with 2-4 mm wall thickness made from HRC of S235 grade as per EN 10219, on theoretical weight basis.
