Sources close to SteelOrbis have confirmed that spot market prices for US domestic HSS tubing have held steady for the third week in a row.  This week’s average pricing continues to be reported at $68.50 cwt. ($1,510/mt or $1,370/nt), FOB mill.  And while it was previously expected that tube mills would need to reduce HSS pricing to reduce the gap between HSS and hot rolled coil (which is still trending at more than $37 cwt. ($816/mt or $740/nt), FOB mill, it’s now believed that tube mills are taking a “wait and see” approach, in that numerous flat rolled steel mills have pushed out $3.00 cwt ($66/mt or $60/nt) price increases in the past seven days.
