SteelOrbis has been informed that price inquiries received by Turkish welded pipe exporters have decreased over the past week, while international demand for Turkish welded pipe has also declined. Due to the approaching new year, European buyers in particular are avoiding new purchases, continuing significantly to the weakness of demand for Turkish welded pipe exports. The falling trend of global steel prices has negatively influenced welded pipe exports, having caused buyers to follow a wait-and-see strategy as they seek alternative suppliers offering lower prices. Although Turkish sales of small tonnages of welded pipes have been heard to North Africa and the Middle East as well as to the Caucasus, demand for Turkish welded pipe exports is mostly at low levels.
Turkish producers’ offer range for ERW pipes and hollow sections with 2-4 mm wall thickness made from hot rolled coil (HRC) of S235 grade as per EN 10219 to their export markets has remained unchanged week on week at $590-620/mt FOB, though offers on the upper end of this range have been heard less frequently. SteelOrbis has also been informed that international buyers consider the price level of $620/mt FOB to be very high.
