US domestic HSS prices may have been “mostly flat” since mid-September, but for weeks, sources have said it was just a matter of time before mills’ revised their official book price.  That revision finally came earlier today, when Nucor announced they’d be taking HSS book prices down from $73.50 cwt. ($1,620/mt or $1,470/nt), FOB mill, to $68.50 cwt. ($1,510/mt or $1,370/nt), FOB mill. Prior to today, discounts at the updated price point had been available based on tonnage.

Yet despite today’s revision, sources still say they feel that additional adjustments are needed based on the still-too-wide spread between HSS and HRC prices.
