The local Chinese steel pipe prices have indicated a mostly stable trend in the past week, but with some upticks seen too, in particular for welded pipe prices.

Chinese domestic seamless pipe prices have followed a stable trend in the past seven days. Overall trading activity has been weak, while traders were mostly willing to offer some discounts as the end of October approached. Upstream billet prices have risen slightly, providing some support for seamless pipe prices. As for the week ahead, considering the weakness of the demand side, it is believed that seamless pipe prices may follow a stable trend, though with some slight downticks also.

Local Chinese welded pipe prices have followed an upward trend during the past week on the back of rises in prices of steel strip and other raw materials. Overall trading activity has increased and is currently at normal levels. Downstream construction activity has mostly accelerated ahead of the imminent arrival of the winter season. As for the week ahead, it is believed that welded pipe prices may follow a stable trend, with small increases also possible.
