Local Chinese steel pipe prices have indicated a strong upward trend during the past week.
Chinese domestic seamless pipe prices have increased in the past seven days as producers and traders followed the strong upward trends of prices of billet and other raw materials. Overall trading activity has improved slightly but is still weak. Downstream demand has increased a little due to the strong increases in prices. As for the week ahead, considering that the cost side may continue giving support to seamless pipe prices, it is believed that seamless pipe prices may indicate further minor rises.
Local Chinese welded pipe prices have followed an upward trend during the past week due to the strong rising trends of steel strip and other raw materials. Market inventory has declined a little and demand from the downstream construction side has slacked due to the winter weather. As for the week ahead, considering the support from the cost side, it is believed that welded pipe prices may follow fluctuate on an upward trend.
