Local Chinese steel pipe prices have moved up during the past week.
Chinese seamless pipe prices have mostly risen during the past seven days. Overall trading activity has been at a normal level. Downstream traders’ activities and demand have recovered gradually. Prices of billet and other raw materials have risen, causing seamless pipe prices to move upwards. Supply has been low due to production restrictions in some areas. As for the week ahead, it is believed that seamless pipe prices may continue to rise.
Chinese domestic welded pipe prices have increased during the past week. Upstream steel strip prices and prices of other raw materials have risen, providing strong support for welded pipe prices. Trading activity has increased but is still weak since most construction spot activity is still recovering. As for the week ahead, considering the support from the cost side and the recovery of the demand side, it is believed that welded pipe prices may continue their upward trend.
