Local Chinese steel pipe prices move sideways or downward

The local Chinese steel pipe prices have moved sideways or downward during the past week.

Chinese domestic seamless pipe prices have followed a stable trend during the past week. Overall trading activity has been weak due to ongoing public health measures which have continued to influence both supply and demand. Billet prices have rebounded slightly recently, providing some support for seamless pipe prices. As for the week ahead, considering that support from the cost side is still strong, seamless pipe prices are just expected to indicate minor fluctuations.

Local Chinese welded pipe prices have softened slightly during the past week amid weaker prices of steel strip and other raw materials. Coronavirus measures have continued to influence supply and demand, and so trading activity has been at a low level. As for the week ahead, it is believed that welded pipe prices may continue their soft trend.
