The local Chinese steel pipe prices have increased by a small margin during the past week, with some prices also moving sideways.
Chinese seamless pipe prices have been mostly stable in the past seven days, with slight upticks also seen, with prices supported by rises in billet prices. Overall trading activity has improved a little due to the easing of coronavirus measures in some areas, but it is still mostly weak due to the off-season. The government’s macroeconomic policy has had a positive influence on welded pipe prices, but most traders are maintaining a wait-and-see stance as demand is still weak. As for the week ahead, it is believed that seamless pipe prices may indicate minor fluctuations.
Chinese domestic welded pipe prices have moved up by small margins during the past week, supported by prices of raw materials and steel strip. Overall trading activity is weak due to the off-season. Outputs and inventories have declined a little, also supporting welded pipe prices. As for the week ahead, considering the support from the cost side, it is believed that welded pipe prices may rise slightly.
