Local Chinese steel pipe prices have fluctuated slightly during the past week.

Chinese seamless pipe prices have mostly edged up slightly during the past week amid increases in billet prices. Overall trading activity for seamless pipes is still weak due to the impact of coronavirus restriction measures on demand and transportation. As for the week ahead, it is believed that seamless pipe prices will continue to see small fluctuations.

Chinese welded pipe prices have softened a little in most areas of the country during the past week, while upstream steel strip prices have continued to rise. Due to increased inventories and supplies in many areas, most traders have been willing to offer lower prices for welded pipes in order to close more deals. As for the week ahead, considering that support from the cost side is still strong though supply may increase, it is believed that welded pie prices may continue to move down by a small margin.
