The local Chinese steel pipe market prices have showed a mostly rebounding trend during the past week.
Local Chinese seamless pipe prices have mostly rebounded during the past seven days. Overall trading activity is still at low levels. Despite the rise in prices of billet and other raw materials on the upstream side, traders have only slightly increased their seamless pipe prices given the weakness of demand and the current off-season. As for the week ahead, it is believed that local seamless pipe prices may indicate small fluctuations.
Local Chinese welded pipe prices have moved on an upward trend during the past week. Overall trading activity is at low levels. The rising price trend has been due to the sharp increases seen in upstream prices of steel strip and raw material prices. However, trading activity has been reduced due to the offseason and the higher prices. As for the week ahead, it is believed that domestic welded pipe prices may edge up slightly, supported by relatively low inventory levels.
