Local Chinese steel pipe prices have mostly indicated minor fluctuations during the past week.

Chinese seamless pipe prices have continued to move down slightly during the past seven days. Overall trading activity has been weak due to the off-season and public health measures. Traders mostly reduced their quoted prices slightly in order to close more deals and as they did not want their stocks to increase. Upstream billet prices have indicated some increases, providing support for seamless pipe prices. As for the week ahead, it is believed that seamless pipe prices may again soften by small margins.

Chinese welded pipe prices have either moved sideways or up slightly during the past week. Overall trading activity has improved slightly but is still slack. Prices of steel strip and other raw materials have moved up, supporting welded pipe prices. As for the week ahead, as support from the cost side is still strong, it is believed that welded pipe prices will continue to show just small fluctuations.
