Independence and Leavitt Tube raise US HSS prices

US hollow structural section (HSS) producer Independence Tube announced Monday that it is increasing the price on HSS products effective immediately with all new orders received after 8:00 am CST Monday April 16, 2012. The minimum price increase will be as follows:

2" SQ-12" SQ (and corresponding rectangles): $1.50 cwt. ($33/mt or $30/nt)
All ITC50 Pipe Size & HSS Rounds up through 16.00" OD: $1.50 cwt. ($33/mt or $30/nt)

All orders currently on the books will be price protected for shipments through May 12, 2012. This increase will apply to all unconfirmed quotes and contracts.

Similarly, Leavitt Tube said Monday that effective with all new orders received after 8:00am CST Monday, April 16, 2012, Leavitt Tube will increase prices by a minimum of $30/nt. This increase applies to all products and size ranges. All orders placed and confirmed prior to this increase date will be price protected for shipments through May 12, 2012.

Both increases follow a similar announcement from Atlas Tube last Friday, April 13.
