During the week ending July 28, average Chinese seamless steel pipe export offer prices have mostly moved sideways, while welded pipe prices have posted an increase, following same moves in the HRC segment. At present, export offers for welded pipe given by Chinese suppliers are in the range of $845-875/mt FOB, up by $15/mt week on week, while export offers for API 5L seamless pipe given by Chinese suppliers are at $855-875/mt FOB, September shipment, remaining stable compared to that recorded on July 21.

During the given week, domestic steel pipe prices have mostly moved sideways amid the sluggish demand due to the heavy rains, flood and typhoon. Meanwhile, rebar futures prices have moved up, bolstering steel pipe prices to some extent. However, demand for steel pipe will unlikely see significant improvement. It is expected that steel pipe prices may move sideways in the coming week.
Rebar futures prices at Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) stand at RMB 5,658/mt ($871.4/mt) on July 28, up RMB 97/mt ($14.9/mt) or 1.74 percent from July 21.
