During the past week, Turkish producers’ offer range for ERW pipes and hollow sections with 2-4 mm wall thickness made from hot rolled coil (HRC) of S235 grade as per EN 10219 to their domestic market has moved sideways at $570-610/mt ex-works.
Market sources state that buyers have been concluding deals only in line with their needs in the given week, adding that demand in the local Turkish welded pipe market is at very low levels. No significant revival in domestic demand for welded pipe is expected before the new year. On the other hand, the increased volatility of the Turkish lira-US dollar exchange rate observed once again since the beginning of December is preventing domestic demand from recovering from its current weak levels. Additionally, the falling trend of hot rolled coil (HRC) quotations both in the domestic and global markets is still exerting pressure on welded pipe prices.
