Over the past week, Turkish welded pipe producers have revised their prices downwards in order to prevent their sales from slowing down amid the depreciation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar, with producers’ welded pipe offers to their domestic market decreasing by $20/mt week on week.
Market sources state that domestic welded pipe demand in Turkey is expected to increase in the current month. Meanwhile, Turkish mills are expected to raise their prices in the coming weeks based on the expectations of better demand and also since domestic hot rolled coil (HRC) prices in Turkey for May delivery are on the high side. As for the export markets, demand for Turkish welded pipe is still at decent levels, though some Turkish mills have cut their prices by $10/mt on the lower end in order to maintain their price advantage as compared to their competitors.
Accordingly, Turkish producers’ offers for ERW pipes and hollow sections with 2-4 mm wall thickness made from hot rolled coil (HRC) of S235 grade as per EN 10219 to the domestic market have decreased by $20/mt to the range of $680-700/mt ex-works.
In the same period, Turkish producers’ export prices for ERW pipes and hollow sections with 2-4 mm wall thickness made from HRC of S235 grade as per EN 10219 have declined by $10/mt on the lower end to $700-730/mt FOB.
