Demand for Turkish welded pipes improves, but prices stable

Turkish welded pipe producers report a slight improvement in local and export sales. However, despite stronger scrap prices and the uptrend of hot rolled coil (HRC) prices, Turkish welded pipe prices have remained stable.

In particular, Turkish welded pipe export prices are available at $490-510/mt FOB for November-December shipments, the same as two weeks ago. Moreover, according to market sources, some $10/mt discounts are possible for sizeable orders. In the local market, offers are also unchanged from two weeks ago. “The stronger scrap price and positive sentiment in the HRC segment have pushed up demand for pipe products,” one source said. However, the uptrend in the mentioned sectors still seems to lack sustainability, as it has failed to be reflected in higher welded pipe offers for now, SteelOrbis understands.

**Prices are given for ERW pipes and hollow sections with 2-4 mm wall thickness made from HRC of S235 grade as per EN 10219, on theoretical weight basis.
