At present, export offers for welded pipe given by Chinese suppliers are in the range of $640-660/mt FOB, remaining stable compared to August 10, while export offers for API 5L seamless pipe given by Chinese suppliers are at $660-700/mt FOB, November shipment, moving sideways compared to August 10.

During the given week, demand for steel pipe has been slow amid the widespread hot weather in China, affecting prices. Meanwhile, steel pipe producers’ capacity utilization rates have increased slightly, easing the supply shortages of some products in the spot market. It is expected that steel pipe prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely fluctuate within a limited range in the coming week.
Rebar futures prices at Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) stand at RMB 3,993/mt ($588.4/mt) on August 17, down by RMB 73/mt ($10.8/mt), or 1.8 percent compared to August 10, while down by 3.5 percent compared to the previous trading day, August 16.
