During the given week, steel pipe prices have remained stable amid slack demand. Market players have mostly held a wait-and-see stance as regards concluding purchases of steel pipes. The sharply declining rebar prices have negatively affected market players’ sentiments. It is expected that steel pipe prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely fluctuate within a limited range in the coming week.
Rebar futures prices at Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) stand at RMB 5,144/mt ($792.4/mt) on August 18, down RMB 453/mt ($70/mt) or 8.1 percent from August 11.
