During the week ending August 4, average Chinese steel pipe export offer prices have moved sideways. At present, export offers for welded pipe given by Chinese suppliers are in the range of $845-875/mt FOB, remaining stable week on week, while export offers for API 5L seamless pipe given by Chinese suppliers are at $855-875/mt FOB, September shipment, moving sideways compared to July 28.

During the given week, steel pipe prices have moved sideways amid production restrictions and relatively high levels of iron ore prices. Demand for steel pipes is expected to improve in August, which will provide support for prices. It is thought that steel pipe prices may rise slightly in the coming week.
Rebar futures prices at Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) stand at RMB 5,454/mt ($843.5/mt) on August 4, down RMB 204/mt ($31.5/mt) or 3.6 percent from July 28.
