During the week ending October 13, average Chinese steel pipe export offer prices have moved up. At present, export offers for welded pipe given by Chinese suppliers are in the range of $895-925/mt FOB, up $15/mt week on week, while export offers for API 5L seamless pipe given by Chinese suppliers are at $930-960/mt FOB, December shipment, moving up by $45/mt compared to September 29.

During the given week, steel pipe prices have moved up sharply amid the improved demand from downstream users. Production restrictions and power supply limitations have reduced supply and bolstered market players’ sentiments. It is thought that steel pipe prices may move sideways in the coming week.
Rebar futures prices at Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) stand at RMB 5,421/mt ($839/mt) on October 13, down RMB 236/mt ($36.5/mt) or 4.2 percent from September 29.
