Chinese steel pipe export offer prices move sideways

During the week ending November 17, average Chinese steel pipe export offer prices have moved sideways. At present, export offers for welded pipe given by Chinese suppliers are in the range of $800-820/mt FOB, remaining stable week on week, while export offers for API 5L seamless pipe given by Chinese suppliers are at $860-890/mt FOB, February shipment, moving sideways compared to that recorded on November 10.

During the given week, steel pipe prices have moved sideways as demand from downstream users has seen certain improvement. However, buyers have been quite cautious towards the prospect for the future market. It is thought that steel pipe prices may fluctuate within a limited range in the coming week.

Rebar futures prices at Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) stand at RMB 4,216/mt ($660/mt) on November 17, down by RMB 30/mt ($4.7/mt), or 0.71 percent compared to that recorded on November 10, while up 0.55 percent compared to the previous trading day, November 16.
