Chinese steel pipe export offer prices increase

During the week ending March 30, average Chinese steel pipe export offer prices have moved up. At present, export offers for welded pipe given by Chinese suppliers are in the range of $840-860/mt FOB, moving up $20/mt compared to March 23, while export offers for API 5L seamless pipe given by Chinese suppliers are at $880-910/mt FOB, June shipment, moving up by $20/mt compared to March 23.

In the given week, steel pipe prices have moved up amid limited supplies due to the strict control measures against the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, rebar futures prices have edged up, exerting a positive impact on the steel pipe market. It is thought that steel pipe prices may increase in the coming week.

Rebar futures prices at Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) stand at RMB 5,034/mt ($792/mt) on March 30, up by RMB 55/mt ($8.6/mt), or 1.1 percent compared to March 23, while up by 0.24 percent compared to the previous trading day, March 29.
