Over the past week, demand for ex-CIS pig iron has continued to be observed in target markets, while CIS-based exporters have maintained their prices unchanged at $395-410/mt FOB. In this context, ex-CIS pig iron offers to the US are at $410-420/mt CFR, while buyers’ firm bids are at $405/mt CFR. Due to the different price expectations of CIS-based producers and US-based buyers, no deals have been concluded to the US in the given period and negotiations between the two sides are continuing. Meanwhile, Italian buyers have stepped up their ex-CIS pig iron bookings as their inventories have decreased and a deal has been heard at $415/mt CFR Porto Marghera in the given period.
